More Clouds at Caltech

The architecture at Pasadena's California Institute of Technology, with some clouds thrown in for good measure.

One of the oldest buildings on the campus is from the mid 1920's. The Robinson Astrophysics Bldg. ( shown above in 2006 on a summer mid-day ) is now Robinson-Linde as of 2011, and is home to environmental science research.  The domes were once used for solar telescopes. The other building shown here is the Eli Broad Biology Center. The photo on left was taken in 2006 on a late afternoon. The Broad was fairly new, and was settling into it's place at the institute.

  1. So the top photo has the ol' red filter look, but I wonder, does that work with digital? Or was this shot with b/w film? So striking!

  2. Gail, it did begin as an RGB digital image from my first d camera, the Nikon D-60 which Mark sold me. I followed a Scott Kelby recipe for the Ansel Adams effect. Done in the channel mixer after you have checked the monochrome box for grayscale in the mixer dialogue. I bit extreme isn't it? The building was just rededicated last week.
