After going to the effort to shoot photographs I often arrived at the question, " Now what do I do with them"? This site will provide an outlet for some of those photographs, and perhaps generate other questions along the way. Jim Staub

A selection of images from some of the great 'Street' Photographers who influenced my hand and eye.
I was asked to make a presentation at a photography group's weekly discussion at which I am a frequent guest. The f8 Salon, led by Bill Wishner, steers the discussion towards the aesthetics of photography rather than the camera or process used in the making of photographs. I made my talk about a favored use of the camera, 'street' photography, and how a number of the great practitioners of the art have played a role in my own photography.
Here is a short, very un-comprehensive list of the greats, with a brief number of examples from each, scanned from my own book collection. At the end I show a group of my own work taken from a series shot from bicycles and cars, with the premise that they illustrate the grounding and influences I acquired from the preceding masters of the street. Derelict Vehicles in the Desert - The Eyesore Reconsidered
My friend's 5 acres in the high desert near 29 Palms, Calif. seems to attract cars and trucks my friend and his friends "store" there, with some hope that, with enough time and money these derelict vehicles will be resurrected. There has in fact been some turn-over. I pay a visit almost every Spring for the annual party thrown by my 5 acre desert friend. Always with a camera.
